Since teasing fans on Twitter with the release of her new single using binary code, artist and producer Grimes has dropped the single and video for ‘Shinigami Eyes’, her second release via Columbia Records, which follows up last year’s ‘Player Of Games’. Directed by Brthr, the futuristic video is both meticulous and boundary pushing, completely raising the bar for music videos as we know it. It features guest cameos from Jennie of BLACKPINK, Dorian Electra and Ryon Wu. The track was first teased on Grimes’ Metaverse Discord last year and has been highly anticipated from fans since.
Initially, it was delayed with Grimes explaining
“We did a very ambitious video basically doing a bunch of stuff no ones ever done before and therefore the editing process has been extremely fraught but we’re getting there – it’s just literally new technology being used in an untested context so trial/error”
The track is taken from her upcoming ‘Fairies Cum First’ EP which precedes her Book 1 album. More details are yet to be announced.
